Summary
The French journalist and philosopher, Albert Camus, found joy in being naked under the sun along North African shorelines and often referenced swimming and skinny-dipping in his work. Camus appreciated the sensuousness and joy of nature but did not romanticize it excessively, and his ambiguous attitude toward naturism is worth examining. Although enjoying nudity and bodlily contact with nature, he did not advocate a crass form of sensualism or ethical hedonism.
