Summary

At the heights of the village of Goudes, a stele with a carved cross was erected in 1924 to honor Father Urbain Legré, a priest and educator known for organizing hikes with sea stops in which wearing underpants was prohibited, inspired by his experiences in Java. Legré, an atypical figure, was also a renowned paleobotanist and left a botanical collection to the Museum of Natural History.
