Summary
In the ancient Babylonian epic of Gilgamesh, the eponymous hero Gilgamesh embodies civilization and violence, while his friend Enkidu represents primeval man and lives among animals. Clothing and civilization's constraints are explored, and toward the end of the epic, Gilgamesh seeks solace by stripping naked and immersing himself in nature.
