Summary
Sunbathing, despite its association with increased risk of skin cancer, was found by a Swedish study to have benefits such as reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and pulmonary diseases, as well as increased life expectancy. These benefits were even apparent in smokers, suggesting that avoiding sun exposure can be as dangerous as smoking in terms of life expectancy.
