Summary
George Mallory faces conflicts when he returns to Charterhouse in September 1911. The school's new headmaster, Frank Fletcher, creates tension with his strict attitude, causing George to dislike the school's environment. Despite his reservations about the school, George remains true to his ideal of a teacher by holding play readings, participating in school debates, and giving individual attention to his students.
